Travel Incentive Infused with Thoughtful Cultural Experiences
A leading company in the agriculture industry holds a corporate travel incentive convention every two years in January. The convention includes an award show, breakout sessions, and cultural experiences. In prior years, the event has been held in Florida, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Last year, the desired destination was the Bahamas.
Working closely with the client, Gavel International helped determine eligibility, measurement criteria, qualification period, and the marketing needed to promote their incentive travel program. We also maintained the points system used to determine the eligibility of top earners and performers.
The event requirements included accommodating the needs of 300 attendees as well as incorporating family-friendliness since eligible winners would be bringing significant others and family. This required careful planning to ensure that the program would excite a mix of attendees of various ages and interests. We carefully defined the needs, including space for meetings, breakout sessions, and leisure activities.
Additionally, we thoughtfully considered cultural experiences unique to the Bahamas to create memorable moments for attendees. One of the special celebrations in the Bahamas is Junkanoo. This spirited parade, carnival, and festival is a favorite among locals and tourists. We decided to include a Junkanoo celebration as part of the program. Attendees were served a traditional Bahamian meal, followed by fire dancers and then a Junkanoo parade. This happy event encouraged attendees to get on their feet, join the parade, and participate in the limbo. The evening concluded with a full Junkanoo festival. Attendees enjoyed the colorful costumes, upbeat music, food, and arts and crafts.
While Gavel International has planned and executed events for this client over many years and in other tropical locations, the feedback is that the Bahamas is one of their favorite destinations!
