What is the difference between Los Cabos and Los Cabo San Lucas?

 Los Cabos is the region at the southern tip of Baja California Sur. It is approximately one thousand miles south of San Diego. Within the territory of Los Cabos, there are two cities, Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. The two towns combined are referred to as Los Cabos. When you hear “Cabo,” it refers to the town of Cabo San Lucas. When you hear the term “Los Cabos,” it refers to the entire region.

Cabo San Lucas is one of the most beautiful destinations in Mexico and is known for its sandy beaches, brilliant blue waters, dazzling sunsets, and sunrises. It’s also a city built for adventures, from water activities to scenic hikes, shopping, and sightseeing. There are plush accommodations and lavish amenities which characterize Los Cabos.

CLIMATE AND SEASONS IN CABO SAN LUCAS

The best months to visit Cabo San Lucas is April through June. The worst months are August and September.

The weather in Cabo San Lucas runs warm to hot throughout the year and is most comfortable between November and May. Summer and early Fall can be hot, and most rain falls during this time of year, which also coincides with hurricane season. During the rainy season, it feels humid and hot.

Los Cabos San Lucas seldom experiences hurricanes, but it’s usually between August and October when they do. It’s improbable that a hurricane will strike, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’ll be traveling during that time of year.

  • The Arch of Cabo San Lucas – The Arch of Cabo San Lucas is a rugged taffy-colored rock formation that rises from the sea. It is located at the Southern tip of Baha, where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortés meet. Also referred to as Land’s End, El Arco is a popular tourist attraction. It is easy to get there by boat. Once there, you can view the arch from your boat or ask the captain to let you off to explore, but ensure you arrange a pickup time.
  • Sailing – Cabo boasts crystal clear water, sunny skies, and plenty of aquatic activities for the water sports enthusiast. Cabo San Lucas is not a city that disappoints. You will be welcomed to the enchanting waters by Cabo Sailing. They offer various sailing experiences, including day trips, snorkeling on the cape, sunset cruise on the cape, whale watching, and much more.
  • Lounge at the Beach – Not far from Land’s End is a stretch known as Lover’s Beach. Scenic views can be found on the Beach, as well as on and under the sea. Lover’s Beach is ideal for a day spent enjoying the sun and splashing in the ocean. Popular activities include snorkeling and scuba diving due to the tranquil waters and abundant aquatic life.
  • Pelican Beach – Just below the cliffs of Pelican Rock, near a rock that jets into the sea, sits Pelican Beach.  Enjoy whale watching from the shore, scuba dive, snorkel, or paddleboard to see the beauty of the life that lives just below the ocean’s surface.
  • Big Game Fishing – The waters off Cabos comprise the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortés. Both consisting of prolific marine environments and submarine seamounts, myriad species can be found anywhere along the shoreline out to 60 miles.   • Head to the Desert – Most visitors to Cabos rarely leave the city limits. If you want to immerse yourself in an adventure in a less frequented part of Baja California Sur, consider a day trip into the outback, an arid country with sweeping vistas. Thirty-four miles north of Land’s End is Santiago, a quaint rural town with flourishing orchards and working ranches resembling a verdant island amid a sea of desert scrub. Santiago doubles as the gateway to the Cabo Real Ecological Reserve, which skirts the Sierra de la Laguna Mountain range. Designated a UNESCO global biosphere reserve in 1994, the range is graced with a wealth of biodiverse vegetation and magnificent rock formations.

Shopping

The Cabos plazas nerve centers are bustling shopping centers where tourists and locals can shop. Stores in the shopping center offer air-conditioned comfort of indoor shopping, especially when browsing the high-end goods of Luxury Avenue in Cabo San Lucas.

The Shops at Palmilla offers a breezy open-air setting. Puerto Paraiso is in the marina and boasts the claim as the largest mall and entertainment center in the Baja California Sur.  There are also plenty of restaurants.
